Update:

Late last week, authorities leading the search and rescue mission of the five-person Titan crew announced that all members had died after the submersible imploded 12,000 feet below on the ocean floor. After departing from the Polar Prince, the Canadian boat that brought them to the point of descent, the vessel lost communication with the mainland. Soon after the submarine was reported missing, a thorough search and rescue operation turned into a race against time. Despite the urgency, those in charge of the mission held onto hope for the safe recovery of the passengers.

Mr. Beast says he could have been on the Titan

A sudden twist in the story of the ill-fated trip became known on Sunday when YouTuber Mr. Beast took to Twitter on Sunday to inform his followers that he had been invited to take part.

“I was invited earlier this month to ride the titanic submarine, I said no. Kind of scary that I could have been on it,” tweeted the internet personality.

It is unclear why Mr. Beast declined the offer, as no explanation was given in the tweet’s accompanying message. The message seems to be an invitation, with the sender expressing their desire for Mr. Beast to join the team (likely referring to OceanGate, the tour company).
