Neither McDonald’s nor Subway: This is the fast food chain opening new locations in Walmart

You can find just about anything at Walmart, even grab a bite to eat. The world’s largest retailer has long partnered with fast food chains like Burger King, McDonald’s, and Taco Bell, among others, so shoppers can get an affordable meal along with ‘everyday low prices’.

Now at six select locations, shoppers will be able to enjoy wieners from the world’s biggest hot dog chain, Wienerschnitzel. “This expansion into Walmart stores signifies a new era of growth for the brand,” said Director of Franchise Expansion Shak Turner.

Shoppers will find the new franchisee-operated restaurants in Alamogordo, New Mexico; Bakersfield, California; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Puyallup, Washington; Reno, Nevada; and Tempe, Arizona reported The Street. Customers will be able to order from the full menu, including Tastee Freez desserts at these new in-store locations.

“Growing inside these Walmart locations significantly expands our reach and opens the door for franchisees to tap into high-traffic locations with built-in demand,” said Ted Milburn, Wienerschnitzel Director of Franchise Development.

Currently, Wienerschnitzel, which started as a single stand in Wilmington, California, in 1961, has over 350 locations operating in 13 states and scores more on the way. Not only will you find standalone restaurants of the hot dog chain, but Wienerschnitzel locations are also popping up airports, food courts, military bases, theme parks and other convenience stores.

“These non-traditional formats allow us to modernize our footprint, bring our iconic flavors to new audiences, and reinforce the brand’s relevance in today’s evolving retail and dining landscape,” said Milburn.
