New York Attorney General Letitia James has announced a new online platform allowing state residents to share images and videos documenting alleged misconduct during Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.

The announcement came just hours after ICE carried out a high-profile raid on Canal Street in Manhattan’s Chinatown, an event that sparked protests. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), ICE agents arrested nine undocumented immigrants during the operation.

“Despite violent rioters who assaulted and obstructed law enforcement by blocking vehicles, nine illegal immigrant offenders were arrested. Their criminal histories included robbery, burglary, domestic violence, assaulting law enforcement, forgery, drug trafficking, and drug possession,” the agency said in a statement.

DHS also reported that four protesters were arrested for assaulting law enforcement officers, while another person was taken into custody for obstruction.

Attorney General James encouraged New Yorkers who witnessed or recorded the Canal Street raid to submit their footage through the new platform. “Every New Yorker has the right to live free from fear and intimidation… We are committed to reviewing these reports and assessing any violations of the law. No one should be subjected to unlawful interrogation, detention, or intimidation,” James said in a statement.

When filing a report, users are asked to provide several optional contact details, including their name, the address of the incident, phone number, and email. The form also requests information about the ICE operation, such as whether the individual was present, a description of what occurred, and the location and date of the incident.
