Not U.S. President Donald Trump or U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer: This is the world leader with the worst approval rating
Despite Trump doing everything from ignoring the constitution to wanting to become king, he is not bottom when it comes to worldwide approval ratings.
Believe it or not, there is a world leader that is even more disliked by their people than Donald Trump and Kier Starmer.
Kier Starmer, U.K. Prime Minister has, since taking over from years of Conservative rule and mismanagement, failed to deliver on a lot of his promises. Benefits for working class people have been cut, and his lack of action on Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people has a large portion of the country outraged.
Donald Trump, the US President, has... I’m not even going to go there.
Both of these powerful figures have seen their approval ratings plummet, with the populations of their respective countries furious at the decisions taken — and not taken — until this point in time.
Macron’s main support turns away
However, they are not bottom of the list. That award goes to both Emmanuel Macron of France, and Petr Fiala of the Czech Republic: both of them have disapproval ratings that sit at 74%.
Macron has been on a downward spiral for years, with his January move to speak with a TikTok influencer – whom it later widely emerged was an Islamic fundamentalist — backfired completely. The Economic Times reported that old people and pensioners, “usually a bastion of his support,” were also turning against him. Le Monde also reports that “public debt has grown by nearly €1,000 billion since 2017."
People ’criticise the cabinet’s program, performance, and members’
As for the latter, this can be considered a small success. In 2023, his disapproval rating was 77%, the outright worst in the world. Expats.cz wrote at the time that the people “criticise the cabinet’s program, performance, and members as well as the prime minister and the way it communicates with the public.”
Bills have risen in the country following the eruption of the war in Ukraine, with the majority of the opinion that not enough has been done to keep them at bay. Budget cuts have also come into effect, as have tax increases on small business, amid the increase in defence spending.
