Now your groceries can arrive by air: Walmart begins deliveries with flying drones in these 5 cities
Walmart shoppers in five additional cities will be able to opt for delivery via drone, which arrives in 30 minutes or less.

Walmart is expanding the number of cities where customers can order groceries and have them delivered by drone the same day. The retail giant first launched the service in Bentonville, Arkansas, and Dallas, Texas, in 2021, and has since completed around 150,000 drone deliveries. The company highlighted the speed of the service, with many orders arriving in 30 minutes or less from the time of purchase.
Where is the program expanding?
Drone delivery will roll out to five additional cities this year: Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. In total, the service will be available at 100 stores across these locations.
According to Walmart, some of the most frequently ordered items for drone delivery include fresh fruit, eggs, ice cream, and pet food.
How much does it cost?
Drone delivery at Walmart costs $19.99 for those without Walmart+. Members of the retailers’ subscription don’t pay anything.
Speaking about the expansion, Greg Cathey, Walmart’s Senior Vice President for Transformation and Innovation, said the move is part of the company’s broader strategy to “redefine retail.” “We’re pushing the boundaries of convenience to better serve our customers, making shopping faster and easier than ever before,” said Cathey. With this announcement, Walmart becomes the first major retailer to scale up drone delivery on this level.
