After months of anticipation, the big night is nearly here. The 95th annual Academy Awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles later this week, bringing together the biggest names in Hollywood to celebrate the finest cinematic achievements of 2022.

Last year’s ceremony will go down in infamy due to the now-iconic Will Smith-Chris Rock altercation, and movie-lovers around the world will be tuning in for the 2023 edition of the Oscars.

The ceremony will take place in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, 12 March. The show is scheduled to begin at 8pm ET/5pm PT. Check out when the Oscars start in EST, CST, MST and PST times taking into account the start of daylight saving time.

How can I watch the Oscars on TV and online

For TV, the full Oscars ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC, who have a long-standing relationship with the Academy.

It will also be available to watch on the network’s cable television station, as well as on ABC.com and the ABC app. Bear in mind that you will also need a cable subscription to watch the online versions.

If you do not have access to ABC there are a number of digital carriers who will be showing the 95th Oscars ceremony this Sunday. Anyone with a subscription to Hulu, YouTubeTV, AT&T TV or FuboTV will be able to follow along live.

If you want to watch the pre-ceremony red carpet action, E! will be broadcasting live from the Dolby Theatre from 5pm ET/2pm PT.

Will there be an appearance from Will Smith at the Oscars?

Oscar night tradition dictates that the winner of the previous year’s award for Best Actor would be on hand to present the award for Best Actress this time around, but there will have to be some changes made to the 2023 schedule.

Will Smith picked up the coveted Best Actor award for his role in ‘King Richard’, a biopic of the father of tennis icons Serena and Venus Williams. But his astonishing outburst that saw him physically assault Chris Rock on the Oscars stage landed him in hot water with the Academy.

In the days after he picked up the award, perhaps the finest achievement of his stellar career, Smith was hit with a 10-year ban from all events hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

It has not yet been confirmed who will replace Smith as the Best Actress presenter, but it has been suggested that one of the other nominees from 2022 could take his spot. Andrew Garfield, Benedict Cumberbatch, Denzel Washington and Javier Bardem were all nominated for Best Actor at the 2022 ceremony.
