Pennsylvania police officers are ambushed by a shooter while responding to a domestic violence call

A shocking, violent scene unfolded Thursday morning, August 7, in rural Pennsylvania. According to police reports, at around 11:00 a.m., two officers were ambushed while responding to a domestic dispute in Susquehanna County. The incident is being investigated as a criminal act rather than a targeted attack on law enforcement. Authorities also confirmed that the woman who made the emergency call was found dead.

The call came from a woman, and when officers arrived, a man opened fire. One officer was shot in the chest and back, while the other was hit in the arm. Both were quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where one underwent surgery. They are now in stable condition.

The officers, identified as Joseph Perechinsky and William Jenkins, were lucky to survive, according to Pennsylvania State Police Colonel Christopher Paris. He noted that a third officer had to apply a tourniquet to save one of his colleagues. The suspect fled the scene but was later killed after barricading himself in a nearby barn and refusing to follow police commands. He was armed with a rifle. The shooter died after fleeing the scene.

After assaulting the officers, the man fled the scene. However, he was killed almost immediately after barricading himself in a nearby barn, where law enforcement was forced to shoot him after he refused to follow instructions.

“I can tell you that the attacker is deceased and that more specific information will be provided about what happened today,” added Colonel Paris, who revealed that the shooter’s weapon – whose identity has not been revealed – was a rifle.

The incident is being investigated as a “criminal incident” and not a direct attack on authorities. It is worth mentioning that the woman who carried it out was also declared dead, according to officials.
