Plastic bottles and other items that will be allowed at World Cup stadiums
Fans will be required to comply with strict security measures to enter World Cup stadiums.

As the FIFA World Cup 2026 draws closer, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced a series of guidelines that will govern fan access to stadiums in the tournament’s 16 host cities.
The world soccer governing body recently released new regulations regarding the items spectators may bring into stadiums during matches. One of the most notable measures allows fans attending games in the United States and Canada to bring one factory-sealed disposable plastic water bottle with a maximum capacity of 20 fluid ounces.
Items that will and won’t be allowed at World Cup stadiums
The decision was explained by FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Operating Officer Heimo Schirgi, who stated that rigid or reusable containers, including refillable water bottles, will remain prohibited for security reasons.
So far, there has been no specific confirmation regarding whether the same policy will apply at the host venues in Mexico, the United States and. However, FIFA has established that attendees must carry their belongings in clear bags to facilitate security screenings at stadium entrances.
The list of prohibited items includes weapons of any kind, sharp objects, explosives, pepper spray, body armor, helmets, lighters, matches, smoke bombs, flares, fireworks, and aerosol sprays.
Additionally, umbrellas, costumes or clothing that conceal a person’s identity, cigarettes, electronic smoking devices, insulated bottles, cups, jars, cans, and inflatable items will also be prohibited. Furthermore, the regulations ban strollers, bicycles, skates, scooters, folding chairs, boxes, containers, and backpacks that do not meet the established requirements.
All fans will be permitted to bring in one, soft, plastic, 20 ounces (590ml), factory sealed disposable water bottle into any FIFA World Cup 2026 match in the USA and Canada. ✅

Likewise, approved clear plastic bags may measure no more than 12 x 12 x 6 inches, while small purses or clutches must not exceed approximately 4.5 x 6.5 inches.
