Scientists work hard to study and understand the human body and the foods that can improve its functioning. The health costs of an unbalanced diet or lack of basic and essential nutritional elements can be enormous. Eating well can be the best shield against some completely preventable diseases and chronic problems. All it takes is a little effort.

With this idea in mind, a group of researchers from the William Paterson University of New Jersey carried out extensive and ambitious research in 2014. It’s no secret that vegetables should be the cornerstone of any healthy person’s daily intake. It is difficult, however, to always comply with this precept. Gluttony or haste end up throwing many of us into the arms of junk food.

The idea behind the study was to draw up a meticulous and detailed list of the most nutritionally complete vegetables. For this, firstly, the substances that every human being should ingest daily and in what proportion were determined. In total, there were 17 essential dietary elements. Later, up to 47 vegetables were analyzed to make the final ranking.

Of course, any type of vegetable will be well received, depending on the the eyes that behold it (thinking of children but some adults too), but none like this small green sprout that grows on the banks of rivers and, according to some, goes well with almost everything. It is enough to include a small handful in the daily diet to notice big changes.

It grows in large numbers in some parts of Asia and Europe, and on the internet there are many tasty and imaginative ideas on how to incorporate it into your daily diet. Some of the recipes are also extraordinarily easy to make. There are fewer and fewer excuses to turn your back on healthy habits. All it takes is the will to do things better. The body and even the mind will thank you. Being healthy is not something difficult or unattainable. At least not now.
