A federal grand jury indicted music megastar Sean “Diddy” Combs on charges of sex trafficking, leading to his arrest in Manhattan on September 16, 2024. The indictment came after months of investigation, which saw federal agents raiding his homes in Los Angeles and Miami.

The probe was reportedly linked to allegations made by his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who had accused him of abuse. Combs is now in federal custody as the legal proceedings unfold.

What do we know about the investigation into Sean “Diddy” Combs?

The investigation into Combs’ activities has been ongoing for several months. It began with a lawsuit filed by his former girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie Ventura, in November 2023. Ventura accused Combs of physical and sexual abuse, which led to a private settlement shortly after the lawsuit was filed. Since then, multiple other individuals have come forward with similar allegations.

The grand jury indictment, which led to Combs’ arrest, is part of a broader investigation led by the Southern District of New York. Federal agents executed search warrants on Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami in late March, seizing various items as part of the investigation.

Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has called the prosecution “unjust” and described the investigation as a “witch hunt based on meritless accusations.” Agnifilo emphasized that Combs has been cooperative throughout the investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York in anticipation of the charges.
