A federal grand jury indicted music megastar Sean “Diddy” Combs on charges of sex trafficking, leading to his arrest in Manhattan on September 16, 2024. The indictment came after months of investigation, which saw federal agents raiding his homes in Los Angeles and Miami.
The probe was reportedly linked to allegations made by his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who had accused him of abuse. Combs’ trial is now starting, on May 2025.

What do we know about the investigation into Sean “Diddy” Combs?
The investigation into Combs’ activities had been ongoing for several months. It began with a lawsuit filed by his former girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie Ventura, in November 2023. Ventura accused Combs of physical and sexual abuse, which led to a private settlement shortly after the lawsuit was filed. Since then, multiple other individuals have come forward with similar allegations.
The grand jury indictment, which led to Combs’ arrest, was part of a broader investigation led by the Southern District of New York. Federal agents executed search warrants on Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami in late March 2024, seizing various items as part of the investigation.
Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, called the prosecution “unjust” and described the investigation as a “witch hunt based on meritless accusations.” Agnifilo emphasized that Combs was cooperative throughout the investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York in anticipation of the charges.

According to law enforcement sources, federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations arrested Combs in New York City on Monday. He now faces charges of sex trafficking through coercion, transporting individuals for prostitution, and conspiracy to commit racketeering. The unsealed indictment accuses him of operating an enterprise involved in sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, and other criminal activities.
