Gerard Piqué, Barcelona footballer, and Colombian singer Shakira are reported to be divorcing. In a statement released by her representatives and published by Spanish news agency EFE, Shakria announced last Saturday that her and Piqué have decided to separate after over a decade together. The rumour is that Piqué has been unfaithful though claims that Barcelona youngster Gavi’s mother was involved is untrue.

We are sorry to confirm that we are separating,” the statement reads. “For the well-being of our children, who are our top priority, we ask that our privacy be respected. Thank you for your understanding.”

What is left in the air at this stage is the estate the couple will have to divide.

How much are the two worth?

According to, Shakira is worth a staggering $300 million, while Piqué is worth $80 million. The couple own a €5 million mansion in the swanky Pedralbes district of Barcelona, which includes a large amount of private gardens.

With his investment company Kosmos Holdings, Piqué has purchased two Spanish football clubs: FC Andorra and Gimnàstic Manresa. Both are Catalan speaking clubs, though FC Andorra is based in the micronation of Andorra between France and Spain.

Shakira herself has a Miami mansion for $11.6 million at a size of 20,726 square foot. The couple were living together in Barcelona but it has been reported that Piqué is living in a flat by himself closer to the centre.

Shakira is also the subject of a tax fraud probe by the Spanish government.
