Update:

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is set to roll out multiple payment cycles during the first week of next month: specifically on Monday, June 1, and Wednesday, June 3.

As it does every month, the SSA will distribute Social Security benefits to retired workers, survivors and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) recipients. It will also send out payments as part of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) scheme - a separate program for certain low-income individuals.

Each group is paid on a different schedule under the official calendar. Some receive their money in the opening days of the month, while others are paid across the weeks that follow. Here’s a clear breakdown of who gets paid during the first week of June:

Who receives Social Security payments on June 1?

On Monday, June 1, the SSA will issue payments to SSI beneficiaries.

Individuals who receive two monthly payments - SSI plus a Social Security benefit (retirement, survivors, or SSDI) - will also get their SSI on June 1.

Who receives Social Security payments on June 3?

On Wednesday, June 3, the SSA will send Social Security benefits to individuals who began receiving payments before May 1997. For those who collect both SSI and Social Security, the latter benefit will also be delivered on June 3.

Full Social Security payment schedule for June 2026

According to the SSA’s official calendar, June 2026 payments will be issued as follows:

Supplemental Security Income:

  • Monday, June 1: SSI benefits paid out

Social Security:

  • Wednesday, June 3: Recipients who began claiming before May 1997, recipients who also get SSI
  • Wednesday, June 10: Beneficiaries born between the 1st and the 10th
  • Wednesday, June 17: Beneficiaries born between the 11th and the 20th
  • Wednesday, June 24: Beneficiaries born between the 21st and the 31st

Month after month, Social Security and SSI payments are sent electronically - either via direct deposit or through the Direct Express debit card program.

Previously, benefits could also be delivered by paper check through the mail. However, that option was phased out last year by the SSA. Anyone who still relied on mailed checks must update their payment method as soon as possible to avoid disruptions. This can be done through a “my Social Security” account.
