The 5 tips to save at Walmart direct from a former employee
Looking to maximize your Walmart shopping experience while saving some serious money? These are the best tips for doing it, according to employees.
With more than 255 million weekly customers, Walmart is one of the most important retailers in the United States. The chain stands out for its wide variety of products, relatively affordable price range, and dozens of daily discounts.
Although the company has an already established price range, current and former employees have tips and advice, little known to customers, that can help them at an even lower cost, as one such former worker revealed in an interview with GoBankingRates.
Price matching policy
One of Walmart’s hidden gems is its price-matching policy. As the employee explains, if a customer finds the exact product sold by a competitor at a lower price, they can go with the evidence to the branch of their choice, ask about the policy, and request that the charge for the item be adjusted to the lower price.
Clearance Tuesday
Many customers don’t know which Walmart has weekly clearance sales. These events are held every Tuesday in the aisles dedicated to items on sale. The best discounts are on items with tags ending in 5 or 0, which are the lowest-priced products.
Download the app
The Walmart app is a gold mine for regular customers. Buyers can obtain coupons with exclusive discounts according to their consumption tendencies. Additionally, they can activate notifications to access clearance events and flash sales.
Loyalty benefit
According to the former employee, customers can download the Ibotta app and link it to their Walmart rewards account. This way, users can get additional benefits whenever they purchase eligible items.
Don’t trust “discount” ads
When you walk through Walmart’s aisles, you are likely to see giant advertisements that show discounts on everyday items. However, the workers reveal that you do not always have to trust these discounts, so they recommend checking the previous price of the product and even comparing it with the competition to verify if the discount is really worth it.
Other tips to improve the shopping experience
While these are the most relevant guys to obtain considerable savings, the former worker also shared other tips to improve users’ purchasing experience, such as how to use ‘Scan & Go’ to avoid long checkout lines and collect products directly from your smartphone.
Another tip is to shop during the week and in the morning, as this is when the flow of customers is at its lowest level. Ask the staff for help if you have any questions related to prices, the location of items, or the products themselves.
