Whether you’ve run of milk, bread, eggs or haven’t time to cook and want a ready meal, there are numerous options in the US - convenience stores that are open seven days a week, and some of them offer 24-hour service.
A recent survey conducted by market research and analytics firm YouGov revealed with grocery stores are the most popular with different generations of shoppers.
YouGov researchers interviewed 1,220 people from October to December 2024 to find out which grocery store chain is the most popular in the United States.
7-Eleven the most popular and most recognized brand
The results may come as a surprise to some - 7-Eleven was crowned America’s favorite grocery store. The chain was established in 1927 and changed its name to 7-Eleven in 1946, with opening hours 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The brand expanded, opening stores in Mexico, Australia, Hong Kong and most notably in Japan, where today it remains one of the countries most iconic Konbini, selling everything from groceries, newspapers and magazine, cigarettes to household products and cosmetics. Today, there are 85,000 7-Eleven stores in 20 countries - many of the US stores are located next to filling stations, although the company is switching its focus away from selling gasoline and cigarettes to stock freshly prepared ready meals and household essentials.

The 7-Eleven scored 97% on the fame scale, which means that most people have heard of the brand. As for service rating, it received a 65% popularity score, the most positive ranking in the convenience stores category. Only 8% of respondents disliked it, while 24% remained neutral.
Trader Joe’s, which unlike 7-Eleven is not open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, came in second with a 94% fame rating and a 64% popularity rating and is only disliked by 5% of respondents.
