Trump has warned Iran about harming protesters in the country, while the Iranian Foreign Ministry has told reporters that Tehran is “more than capable” of responding to any U.S. aggression.

The Abraham Lincoln is the fifth Nimitz-class aircraft carrier and was commissioned on November 11, 1989. The ship completed a scheduled deployment with the U.S. Fifth and Seventh Fleets in 2024, returning to San Diego in late December of last year. In August 2025, the Abraham Lincoln participated in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s joint exercise Northern Edge 2025 in and around the Gulf of Alaska.

The ABECSG conducts routine operations within the U.S. Seventh Fleet’s area of operations. The Seventh Fleet, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, routinely engages and operates with allies and partners to preserve a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

The ABECSG, composed of the air wing of the future and a modernized Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer serving as the integrated air and missile defense commander (IAMDC), is capable of conducting simultaneous operations across multiple domains and warfare areas. It employs the most advanced technology and is staffed by highly trained personnel.

At the moment the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group has made its presence known and has stated that it is in the area “to promote regional security and stability.”
