A video of a young Barron Trump speaking with an accent similar to his mothers has resurfaced, leading some to question how he acquired her cadence and inflection.

A viral video of Barron Trump, the youngest son of President-elect Donald Trump, as a child has resurfaced after many years. As the baby of the family, Barron has been protected from the media, and his mother, Melania, has made public efforts to maintain his privacy. The video circulating shows Barron as a young child, and many remain focused on his accent, which is similar to that of his mother. When children are learning multiple languages and hearing multiple accents, it’s not uncommon for them to mirror those vocal cadences.

The origins of the interivew

“I have to go to school now,” says a young Barron, to which his mother responds, “yes, after you have lunch.” The conversation showed how Barron’s accent mirrored that of his mother. In the video, which originally aired as a part of an interview with Donald and Melania in the early 2000s, Barron’s mother boasts about her young son, explaining that his accent is a result of the two of them spending a lot of time together. She added that he is trilingual, and his father added that “anything he does is okay” with him.

Now, the 18-year-old son of the President-elect, is halfway through his first year of college at New York University. For those curious about what he sounds like all these years later, tough luck. There aren’t any easily accessible videos of him speaking publicly, further evidence that his parents actively shield him from the limelight.
