Trump rushed to safety as gunman opens fire at White House Correspondents’ Dinner: “Quite an evening”
Security personnel protected the president and his wife amid a shooting at the Washington Hilton Hotel this Saturday.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was abruptly interrupted Saturday night after an armed man entered the ballroom at the Washington Hilton Hotel and opened fire, sending attendees, including President Donald Trump, scrambling for cover.
As shots rang out, guests dove beneath tables and chairs, triggering widespread panic inside one of Washington’s most high-profile annual events.
What happened at the Washington Hilton Hotel?
The incident unfolded during the traditional Correspondents’ Dinner, held this year with President Trump and first lady Melania Trump in attendance.
Within seconds of the gunfire, Secret Service agents stormed the room and moved quickly to secure the president and first lady. Vice President J.D. Vance was also taken to safety as part of the rapid response.
Officials said Secret Service personnel acted as quickly as possible to contain the threat and protect those inside the venue.

Suspect in custody, injuries reported
Authorities later confirmed that the suspected gunman, later named as Cole Thomas Allen, was apprehended at the scene. He has been taken into custody and is expected to be charged with multiple crimes on Monday.
While early reports indicate that several people were injured, officials have not yet released details on the severity of those injuries. We do know that one officer was struck in the chest from close range but was unharmed due to his bulletproof vest. A large-scale security operation remains in place as investigators work to determine what led to the shooting.

“Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we “LET THE SHOW GO ON” but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
