Trump still thinks China is going to pay for trade war: The U.S. president asks Walmart to “eat the tariffs”

Update:

Despite financial experts, high-ranking politicians, seasoned traders, top-tier CEOs and your nan all telling us that Donald Trump’s tariffs are going to impose untold restrictions on what you can buy, for what price and how often, the leader of the Free World continues to plough through the mud and reiterate the people over in China are indeed going to be the ones who bear the brunt of the madness.

I don’t know what the Chinese Walmart is called, but I can tell you that they are not seeing price hikes like me and you are due to the former reality TV star’s decision to fumble against the Asian superpower.

Walmart has over 4,600 stores in the United States and receives its merchandise from countries such as Canada, China, India, Mexico and Vietnam, among others. These countries have been slapped with at least 10% in tariffs, and imports of steel, aluminium, cars and auto parts face 25% tariffs, something that has had a harrowing effect on the prices nationwide.

‘Food inflation is very much on our mind’

In fact, Walmart’s CEO Douglas McMillon recently admitted in a call that the price increases were a direct result of Trump’s tariffs being “too high,” particularly when it came to the Chinese goods that were sold in the shops across the country:

We will do our best to keep our prices as low as possible. But given the magnitude of the tariffs, even at the reduced levels announced this week, we aren’t able to absorb all the pressure given the reality of narrow retail margins... All of the tariffs create cost pressure for us, but the larger tariffs on China have the biggest impact... Food inflation is very much on our mind.”

But never mind, forget what he said, let’s see what the Trump© situation is, as shouted by Trump himself.

The US President responded in typically shouty manner just days later, posting an angry message on his own social media side: “Between Walmart and China they should, as is said ‘EAT THE TARIFFS,’ and not charge valued customers ANYTHING. I’ll be watching, and so will your customers!”

Instead of helping the people, Trump has seemingly decided to blame the shops for increasing prices due to his decisions as, once again, the working American people are forced to suck it up and pay more in his world.

Trump increased US tariffs on the majority of Chinese goods to 145%; however, the rate dropped to 30% on Monday as part of a 90-day truce. It remains to be seen how the situation will play out, as with much of Trump’s politics, but what’s certain is that right now is that, thanks to Trumponomics, the ones who are worst off are the American working people.
