US security heightened after bomb threat grounds New York flight
A flight from New York to Delhi was forced to turn around on its 14-hour journey after a bomb threat.
A flight from New York to Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing after receiving a bomb threat while flying over the Caspian Sea, near Turkmenistan.
The flight, which departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport, had been heading to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Dehli.
American Airlines told NewsWeek that "American Airlines Flight AA292, operating from New York to Delhi, has been diverted to Rome due to a potential security threat onboard. We are working closely with local authorities and will provide updates as the situation develops. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our passengers."

“American flight AA292 will divert to Rome en route to Delhi due to a bomb threat,” Flight Emergency, a flight-tracking account, posted on X.
Airport sources told reporters that the aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, had 199 people onboard and was told to land at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci airport around 16:20 GMT.
The craft was then escorted by Italian Air Force jets to Italy, where it landed safely before being surrounded by high-level security and law enforcement. The airport, according to various reports, continued to operate as normal.
