Update:

For many young people, studying temporarily in another country is one of the most intense and meaningful experiences of their lives. During those months, they form deep bonds, discover new cultures, and create memories that last a lifetime. That’s why, when the time comes to leave, the farewell can be difficult and painful.

This is exactly the case for @ayeeitsjoyy, an American content creator who had been studying in Spain, and who, in one of her latest TikTok posts, shows her sadness at having to leave Spain and return to the U.S. In the video, the young woman is seen inside a Mercadona supermarket, where she starts to cry—sparking a strong reaction on social media.

“I’m going back to the United States. I’m going back to Donald Trump’s economy. I don’t want to leave Spain. I mean it,” says the TikToker, while her friends—off camera—try to comfort her by saying that the situation in the U.S. isn’t that different from when they first left.

Many users praised her reaction

The video, which has gained over 100,000 views, 9,000 likes, and nearly 500 comments in just a few days, has attracted hundreds of users who didn’t hesitate to praise the emotional and honest reaction of the content creator, who couldn’t hold back her tears inside one of the supermarkets owned by Juan Roig.

Crying in a Mercadona saying you don’t want to leave Spain—I think that’s one of the most beautiful love gestures,”
“I hope everything goes well for you. This is your home,”
“Stay, you’re already Spanish. I’ll help you get your citizenship,”
or “Crying in Mercadona is enough reason to get a visa,”
are just a few of the many supportive comments on her post.
