Len Goodman: a dancer and judge

Goodman had been a judge on Strictly Come Dancing since its debut on the BBC in 2004, serving as a key member of the panel for 12 years. The show, which sees celebrities paired with professional dance partners, has become one of the most popular on the network. Known for his urbane demeanor, Goodman was beloved by fans and participants alike for his knowledgeable critiques and constructive feedback.

It was reported that he died on Saturday 22 April at a hospice in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, surrounded by his family. He had been diagnosed with bone cancer.

Goodman’s passing marks a significant loss for the world of dance, as well as for fans of Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing with the Stars. His contributions to the industry and his dedication to the art of ballroom dancing will be missed.

On Monday, after the news of his passing, tributes poured in from colleagues and friends, including Craig Revel Horwood, Strictly’s longest-serving judge, who referred to him as a “gorgeous colleague and dear friend.”

“Len Goody Goodman is what I always called him and ‘It’s a ten from Len & seveeeeern’ will live with me forever,” he said.

Bruno Tonioli who also worked alongside Goodman described him as a “ballroom legend.”
