The over-the-top congresswoman once again calls for a “National Divorce” on her Twitter account. For the Republican representative, the United States needs to separate the blues from the red, the conservatives from the progressives. Her Twitter post claims that if a divorce doesn’t happen and the government shrinks, states like Florida will become a mess like California.

The representative doesn’t explain why she thinks California is in shambles. The state is the fifth biggest economy in the world and fifth in GDP per capita in the U.S., in contrast with her home state of Georgia, which ranks 28 in GDP per capita.

In a study published in the journal, International Economic Review, the state of California ranks 16th in an index of highest standards of living, while Georgia ranks 40th and has one of the highest inequalities per state.

But what is a “National Divorce”? And what does Marjorie Taylor Greene suggest?

Essentially this is the separation of those states who are Democrat vs. those that are Republican.

She posted on her Twitter, “We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government.”

The congresswoman continued with her post, “From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done.”

Are her posts seditious? And can she be in trouble?

The short answer is no. Her comments are protected by free speech.

The law asserts that:

“If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.”
