Update:
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel will lead audiences through the Oscars for the third time at the 95th Academy Awards. Is being paid, and what is his net worth?

Jimmy Kimmel will take center stage at the 95th Academy Award on Sunday as host for the third time.

Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ airs on ABC, the same network that broadcasts the Oscars in the US, making Kimmel a safe choice for all parties involved. Audience familiarity with Kimmel, who is not seen as a hugely controversial figure in US media, also makes him a good fit for the job of leading audiences through the Oscar ceremony.

After Kimmel hosted the Oscars in 2017 and 2018, the Academy opted for a hostess show for the next three years. Clearly, the choice did not reflect Kimmel’s performance since has been invited back just a few years later.

Unlike New York-based late-night hosts who would have to make the trip to Los Angeles, Kimmel is already based in Southern California, making logistics easier for show planners. The host owns a few homes in the LA Area, including a property one block from the Ocean in Hermosa Beach, which he purchased in 2004 for $2.175 million. In 2014 and 2018, he purchased two more properties, the former for $2.25 million and the latter for $8.2 million. In addition to these properties, all located in Hermosa Beach, Kimmel also owns a home in the Hollywood Hills which cost him $7.1 million.
