What people receive $699 from Social Security on May 1?
This Wednesday, May 1, the first Social Security payment of the month is sent. Find out who receives up to $943.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) is getting ready to distribute May payments for retired workers and survivors, as well as disability payments from Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). This week, two payments will be sent out, one on Wednesday, May 1, and another on Wednesday, May 3.
SSI benefits will be sent on the first
According to the payment schedule provided by the SSA, SSI payments are disbursed on the first day of each month. Therefore, the beneficiaries will receive their payments on May 1st. The average payment sent to SSI recipients in March was $699.22 this year. Couples where both members of the pair qualify can receive double this amount.
In May, SSI beneficiaries will receive two payments because the first of June falls on a Saturday. This means that the June payment will be paid on Friday, 31 May.
Next comes Social Secuirty
Social Security beneficiaries who started receiving their payments before May 1997 will receive them on May 3rd. Each month, these payments are made on the third of the month unless that date falls on a weekend or holiday, in which case they will be paid on the previous business day.
For retirees, survivors, and SSDI beneficiaries, payments will be sent on Wednesdays based on their date of birth. Additionally, those who receive SSI payments will receive a second check at the end of the month. The complete payment schedule for May is as follows:
Because Monday, June 1 is a Saturday, the Supplemental Security Income payment was sent earlier, on May 31, so SSI beneficiaries will receive two payments that month, but in June, there will be none because the benefit is advanced.
