Donald Trump will serve a second term as President of the United States with his tenure starting on Monday (January 20). The Republican won the 2016 election after defeating Hillary Clinton but fell short in 2020, losing out to Democrat Joe Biden.

Last year, Trump threw his hat in the ring again and surprised many with a resounding win over Kamala Harris, who joined the presidential race late after President Joe Biden withdrew from the contest.

On Monday, the 78-year-old will take office as stated in the Twentieth Amendment of the US Constitution: “The terms of the President and Vice President shall expire at noon on the 20th day of January [...] of the years in which such terms would have expired if this article had been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin.”

What time does Trump’s inauguration start?

The inauguration will be held in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol in Washington DC. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET. The event will be held indoors due to the bitterly cold temperatures expected in the nation’s capital.

There is no set time for how long the inauguration ceremony will run with proceedings lasting roughly an hour when Trump took the oath of office in 2017 and also when Joe Biden was inaugurated back in 2021.

Underwood is due to take to the stage shortly before Trump swears the presidential oath of office and make his inaugural address.

The inauguration ceremony from the Capitol will be available to watch on all major television networks, including CNN, ABC, CBS, Fox, C-SPAN, MSNBC, NewsNation, PBS, NBC and Univision, as well as online via the outlets respective official YouTube channels.
