As March approaches, many students across the country are beginning to plan their Spring Break trip. Spring Break is observed by universities and colleges, as well as many K-12 school systems in the United States, and generally falls between March and April, depending on the dates of the terms and Easter vacation.

Spring Break usually lasts for a week or two, although some schools schedule it for the last week of March, with separate days off for Easter. This year’s most common Spring Break days will be between March 11 and April 1.

As frigid temperatures have rocked many areas of the country this winter, some college students are beginning to plan their spring break trips to warmer locations. We will look at some favored destinations in Arizona, California, Florida, and Texas.

Spring Break destinations in Arizona

Arizona is the only landlocked state on our list, so beach lovers will want to look elsewhere. The many national parks open up many opportunities for those looking to escape into nature.

Lake Havasu State Park

Lake Havasu State Park is one popular spot for college student spring breakers, just over three hours from Phoenix. Head to the lake or hit the trails for a daily hike, this state park has activities for everyone.

Where should you stay at Lake Havasu?

Sedona

If you are a student hoping for a more peaceful spring break, Sedona, Arizona, could be your perfect destination. The area’s weather is a major draw for those studying in colder regions of the country. During March and April, daily temperatures range from the high 60s to the low 70s, making it an ideal place for leisure activities like hiking, shopping, or exploring the local art scene.

As for accommodations, those planning to visit Sedona have several options. PlanetWare has compiled a list of the six best campsites in the area, though many hotels, resorts, and bed and breakfasts are also available. However, it’s worth noting that many of these options are filling up quickly, so it’s best to book ahead if possible.

Spring Break locations in California

California offers a lot of options for spring breakers. San Diego, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara are great destinations for those who want to hit the beach and enjoy the sun and waves, although they can be expensive. If you prefer hiking with a view of the ocean, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Half Moon Bay are great options further up north. California is also one of the few destinations where you can enjoy skiing or snowboarding during spring break. This may be a good option this year since the Sierra Nevada Mountains have received record snowfall.

Spring Break locations in Florida

Out of the four states mentioned, Florida is widely recognized as the most popular spring break destination. Many cities across the state are geared up to welcome college students looking to have fun despite some residents not liking it. From Daytona Beach and Panama City to Miami and Key West, there are many options for those seeking a good time.

Panama City, located on the Gulf of Mexico, provides a different ocean experience compared to cities like Miami, which is situated on the opposite side of the state. However, both cities have many options for college students to enjoy. As March and April approach, booking accommodations will become increasingly more expensive. Therefore, those planning to head to Florida, especially in groups, should book their accommodations as soon as possible.

In Miami, some of the most beloved hotels for spring breakers include Delano South Beach, The National, and Surfcomber.

Spring Break locations in Texas

The state of Texas has some overlooked spring break destinations that offer the same level of fun as Florida but with less crowded areas. Galveston Island has long been a favorite for students looking to make the most of their spring break. Full of bars, restaurants, beautiful beaches, and great shopping, Galveston is sure to keep visitors busy. Hampton Inn & Suites Galveston, Casa Del Mar Beachfront Suites, and Best Western Plus Galveston Suites are some of the most highly-rated hotels in the area but they will fill up quickly. Port Aransas is an excellent option for those interested in a slower pace for their vacation. There are plenty of opportunities to see dolphins and enjoy volleyball on the beach all day. In the evening, the city has plenty of dining options that are sure to please your taste buds.
