Of the 71.2 million recipients of Social Security benefits nationwide, many are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month, depending on their birthday.
Now two-thirds complete, with the final payment run due next week, June’s three-Wednesdays cycle is:
- Beneficiaries born on 1st-10th of any month: paid on Wednesday, June 10
- Beneficiaries born on 11th-20th of any month: paid on Wednesday, June 17
- Beneficiaries born on 21st-31st of any month: paid on Wednesday, June 24
NB: If you claim Social Security based on someone else’s work record, the SSA uses the other person’s birthday.

On Monday, June 1, the SSA issued monthly SSI payments to the 7.3 million Americans signed up to the scheme.
A benefit for certain low-income individuals, SSI is run by the SSA, but differs from Social Security as it is needs-based. Eligibility does not depend on a claimant’s employment history.
- June 3: Certain long-term Social Security beneficiaries
On Wednesday, June 3, the SSA sent out this month’s Social Security to recipients who began claiming their benefits before May 1997.
- June 3: Social Security recipients who also get SSI
June 3 was also this month’s Social Security payment date for beneficiaries who combine the program with SSI.
How much are Social Security and SSI benefits?

- Social Security disability pay: $1,493.25/month
- Social Security survivor pay: $1,626.59/month
- SSI benefits: $738.13/month
(Average benefit, per SSA figures.)
