While most towns and counties will open up a handful of polling places on Thursday, some may need to wait until early October. For instance, in the City of Chicago, early voting will begin on Thursday, October 3 at 9:00 am.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Thursday, October 31. By that date election authorities have to have received the petition to ensure that they are able to send out a ballot before Monday, November 4, which is when they must be returned.
