CHRISTMAS

When should you stop wearing Christmas clothes?

Christmas may be over in terms of American tradition but other parts of the world are yet to finish the festivities.

The decision of when to stop wearing Christmas clothes is a matter of personal preference. Traditionally, people tend to wear Christmas-themed clothing during the holiday season, which is arguably still taking place.

The beginning of January is still in the period of the Twelve Days of Christmas. This starts on Christmas Day and ends on the Feast of Epiphany, 6 January. In some culturally Christian countries, like Spain, the Feast of Epiphany is the day when gifts are exchanged. The twelfth day of Christmas is the day the wise men arrived at Jesus birth, afterall.

While many people in the US may already be planning Christmas for 2024, people in Spain are yet to undertake one of the crucial traditions of the holiday

Considering the Feast of Epiphany, wearing Christmas clothes during the Twelve Days of Christmas would certianly fit with the festive spirit of the season. Many people celebrate and exchange gifts during this time, so wearing Christmas-themed clothing can be a way to continue the holiday cheer.

Ultimately, there are no strict rules. If you are still feeling Christmassy then by all means show it proudly. If you feel comfortable and festive in Christmas clothes, there’s no harm in wearing them for as long as you like. I know when I’m running low on socks I take out the reindeer pair from the drawers.
