Meet Fox News’ host Bret Baier

The 2024 US presidential election is in its home stretch with less than three weeks to go until voters cast the last ballots on Tuesday, November 5. Candidates for both parties are trying to rally support with campaign stops and interviews. While Donald Trump has mainly avoided mainstream media, Kamala Harris has been doing a raft of appearances from ’60 Minutes’ to the ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’.

As the Democratic candidate tries to build a broad coalition against her Republican rival, she is going into his home court on Wednesday, sitting down for an interview with Fox News’ host Bret Baier. It will be her first interview on the conservative pro-Trump network where she will attempt to give disaffected Republicans a reason to vote Democrat.

Who is Bret Baier? Career, net worth, political views...

Baier joined Fox News in 1998 as its first reporter at the network’s Atlanta bureau after getting his start in TV journalism at local PBS and then CBS affiliated stations in North Carolina. The DePauw University graduate in political sciences and English made his move to Washington DC after the September 11, 2001, attacks, becoming the national security correspondent at the Pentagon for Fox News.

In 2007, he was named Fox News‘ White House correspondent and that same year he began stepping in on Fridays for anchor Brit Hume on ’Special Report'. He took over as the anchor in January 2009 and is now also its executive producer and the network’s chief political anchor.

’Special Report with Bret Baier’ is “the top-rated cable news program in its timeslot and consistently one of the top five shows in cable news,” states his bio. He is also the author of five New York times bestsellers and has another book coming out this month.

Over the years he has built a strong reputation and is a respected figure among viewers and in Washington circles. While his network has come under fire for being highly biased in its reporting, Baier has widely been seen as one who adheres to traditional journalistic ethics and standards.

Baier has a multi-year contract with Fox News. His latest extension signed in 2021 raised his annual salary from $7 million to $20 million according to Celebrity Net Worth. According to the outlet he has a net worth of $70 million.
