Claudia Sheinbaum anuncia que se casará con su novio Jesús María Tarriba

Mexico has written a new chapter in its history, as it will have its first female president in 200 years: Claudia Sheinbaum has won the votes of thousands of Mexicans, meaning her husband Jesús María Tarriba will become the First Gentleman of the country.

All about Jesús María Tarriba...

He studied Physics at UNAM, where he obtained his degree in 1988. He also holds a Master’s degree in Science from the same university, graduating in 1989. Subsequently, he obtained his PhD in Science from UNAM in 1994.

Tarriba has extensive experience in financial risk management, acquired throughout his professional career in banking institutions both in Spain and Mexico.

What is Jesús Tarriba’s job?

“Jesús has a long career helping to improve risk management processes in the financial industry, contributing innovative ideas and leading teams of highly qualified professionals,” the account description states.

Tarriba began his professional career at the market research firm GAUSSC in 1993, but the following year he moved into the financial sector, where he has remained ever since.

Currently, Tarriba holds the position of Financial Risk specialist at the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), a position she has held since 2017, before Sheinbaum took office as head of government of the capital. At Banxico, his main role consists of developing models for the valuation and measurement of financial risks.

Their love story emerged, after Claudia’s divorce, as they met again thanks to social media; something she herself shared was that she and Jesus were boyfriend and girlfriend during college.

In 2022, during an interview, Sheinbaum, still as head of the Mexico City Government, mentioned that she would marry Tarriba, whom she met while they were both studying a degree in Physics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

More Mexico:

Sheinbaum shared that they maintained a relationship during their university days, but then each went their own way. In 2016, when she was mayor of Tlalpan and already divorced from Carlos Ímaz Gispert, her ex-partner, they met again when Tarriba was working at Banco Santander in Spain.

It was in November 2023 when Claudia shared through her social networks that she had married Jesús in an intimate ceremony.
