Seven years after his last stint in the White House, Britain born Sebastian Gorka returns as an assistant and advisor on terrorism.

Sebastian Gorka is set to make a comeback to the White House as President-elect Donald Trump’s deputy assistant and senior director for counterterrorism.
Gorka served in the Trump administration for seven months in 2017 as Deputy Assistant to the President before departing under disputed circumstances, being forced out by a new chief of staff. Since then, he has maintained a presence in conservative media, hosting a radio show and appearing on NewsMax.
His academic credentials have been a subject of debate, with plenty of academics coming out against his supposed skills.
“I would not call him an expert on terrorism,” said Stephen Sloan, a retired professor of political science who tutored Gorka. “[He] does a very good job being the bulldog, if you will, for the administration … but as an adviser, I have some discomfort.”
Gorka has held positions at various institutions, including the Marine Corps University Foundation and The Institute of World Politics. He has also written several books on islam, despite not knowing how to read Arabic, and contributed to right-wing ‘news’ sites like Breitbart News, where he worked under Steve Bannon, another Trump acolyte.
Gorka’s views on Islam have drawn significant criticism, though will be right at home in this administration. He has said the religion is a “political ideology” that “hides behind this notion of it being a religion”, as well as claiming that there is an islamic goal to impose “shari’a law” on the US.
