Next week, the Social Security Administration is to make the latest round of payments on its benefits schedule for July 2026.

Social Security is paid out on Wednesday, July 8: who benefits?

Certain Social Security recipients in the U.S. are due to get their latest monthly benefits next week, as the Social Security Administration (SSA) kicks off July 2026’s three-Wednesdays payment cycle.
Who gets Social Security on Wednesday, July 8?
Of the U.S.’s 71.2 million Social Security recipients, many are issued their benefits on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month, depending on their birthday.
July 8 is this month’s second Wednesday, so Social Security payments are scheduled to be sent out to beneficiaries born between the first and 10th of any month.
July 2026’s full three-Wednesdays schedule is:
- Born on 1st-10th of any month: Wednesday, July 8
- Born on 11th-20th of any month: Wednesday, July 15
- Born on 21st-31st of any month: Wednesday, July 22
NB: If you receive Social Security based on someone else’s work record, the SSA uses the other person’s birthday.
What other Social Security payment dates are there in July 2026?
- July 2: Social Security paid to some long-term recipients
Beneficiaries who signed up for Social Security before May 1997 are being paid their July money today, Thursday 2, no matter their date of birth.
- June 2: Social Security paid to recipients also on SSI
Today is also this month’s Social Security distribution date for recipients who combine the scheme with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a benefit for certain low-income individuals. SSI payments, meanwhile, were due to go out on Wednesday, July 1.
Social Security is typically issued to the above long-term and dual beneficiaries on the third of the month, but payment was brought forward because July 3 is a federal holiday.
How much are Social Security benefits?
- Retirement benefits: $2,028.00
- Disability benefits: $1,493.25
- Survivor benefits: $1,626.59
(Average monthly benefit, per figures shared by the SSA.)
How does the Social Security Admin make benefits payments?
- Direct deposit
Social Security beneficiaries can update their bank details using the SSA’s online my Social Security tool.
- Direct Express
Benefits can be paid onto the Direct Express Card, a special debit card for federal disbursements. Sign up at 1-800-333-1795 or 1-800-772-1213, or at a Social Security office.
