Shots were fired at former President Donald Trump as he played golf in West Palm Beach. The gunman was reportedly spotted by an advance team several holes ahead of Trump.

A brief statement was released by Trump’s camp as the news broke, saying that “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.”

It is the second time this year that shots have been fired close to Trump: the 78-year-old survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Reports say that an AK-47 with a scope was found near the scene after the shooter fled, with other reports adding that a car was stopped by police that matched the description from eyewitnesses soon after the event. Others claim that the shooter was arrested on Interstate 95.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said, via AP, that the gunman, who is now in custody, also had two backpacks hanging on a fence and a GoPro camera.

Soon after the incident, the FBI named the suspect as Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, from Hawaii.
