Why did a court issue a restraining order against Ezra Miller to protect an 18-year-old activist?
Ezra Miller’s legal woes continue to grow with another protection order issued against the Flash actor, this time protecting a 12-year-old in Massachusetts.
Over the past few months Ezra Miller, the actor who played the Justice League superhero the Flash, has had more than his share of run-ins with the law. The most recent saw a Massachusetts court grant the mother of a 12-year-old a temporary protection order on behalf of her child.
Another court in South Dakota issued a similar order protecting the Iron Eyes family, including their 18-year-old nonbinary daughter Tokata Iron Eyes a Standing Rock activist. They now go by the name of Gibson and have been traveling with Miller for several months.

Miller now 29 years old, met the now 18-year-old Standing Rock activist when Gibson was just 8. The two first met in 2012 during the anti-Dakota Access Pipeline protests when the actor joined with Indigenous protesters according to the parents’ court filings obtained by TMZ. But it wasn’t until four years later when they were 12 that both began developing a friendship.
Over the ensuing years, Gibson visited Miller on movie sets and the actor flew the Standing Rock activist without their parents to the UK in 2017 while he was filming Harry Potter’s Fantastic Beasts when Iron Eyes was just 14 and Miller was 25.
Chase Iron Eyes and Sara Jumping Eagle, Gibson’s parents, claim that their child is facing mental health struggles and that Miller is controlling their daughter. They claim that the Flash actor groomed Gibson, and has supplied their underage daughter with alcohol, marijuana and LSD. They also claim that Miller gave them a high dose of LSD earlier this year.
In early June, they asked the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court to step in and keep the actor away from their daughter. On 7 June an interim order was issued for the actor to not come within 100 yards of the Iron Eyes’ residence and cease contact with all members of the Iron Eyes family, including Gibson. Miller must appear in person before the South Dakota court on 12 July, failure to do so will make the order permanent.
Ezra Miller building legal troubles
The Flash actor’s legal problems began in March when he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and harassment in a Hawaii bar. The same day, he was hit with a restraining for harassing and a couple after he broke into their bedroom. It’s reported he verbally assaulted them and then stole some of their possessions.
He was arrested again in April at a traffic stop, again in Hawaii. Prior to the arrest he had thrown a chair injuring a woman after he became irate when he was asked to leave a private gathering.
The latest legal episode took place in Massachusetts with another protection order against the Flash actor. The Daily Beast spoke with the mother who filed the protection order on behalf of her 12-year-old who is nonbinary. She says that on several occasions Miller pestered the family after an initial confrontation at the downstairs neighbor’s house.
The actor had made what the mother felt were inappropriate gift offers such as buying the child a herd of horses. As well as making the child uncomfortable by hugging them and pressing their body closely against them.
