Why will Disneyland close one of its lands and which area will be temporarily inaccessible?

Crews at Disneyland are working to bring Walt Disney Imagineering’s ‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’ to life which will necessitate temporarily closing an area.

Disneyland unveiled last year the next chapter in the story for Tiana picking up where the 2009 animated feature left off. Crews at the park “are working hard” to bring Walt Disney Imagineering’s ‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’ to life which will necessitate temporarily closing an area.

Starting 1 May this year, Critter Country will temporarily close in order to make way for two reimagined merchandise shops inspired by ‘The Princess and the Frog’. When construction is completed later this year on Ray’s Berets and Louis’ Critter Club, visitors will have another stop to add to their trip down to the bayou.

Disneyland recently released the concept art of these stores from Walt Disney Imagineering as well as details about what they will offer.

New shops inspired by ‘The Princess and the Frog’

When ‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’ opens later this year, visitors can stop at Ray’s Berets, which will be where The Briar Patch is currently located. This reimagined merchandise shop “will be the best place for guests to shop for headwear, apparel, accessories, toys and more,” states the Disney Parks Blog.

The location will be themed around firefly Raymond and his firefly kin who have made “the coziest cabin in Critter Country.” Guests are assured that they are “sure to light up when you see how these bayou bugs have made this home their own!”

As for Louis’ Critter Club, visitors will find this shop a little further into the land, currently what is now the left-hand side of Pooh Corner. This “home away from home” will feature Princess Tiana and some of favorite critters for fans of the beloved animated film. It will be “the place to go for apparel, accessories, home decor and more,” according to the Disney Parks Blog.

Those who are looking for merchandise and sweet treats like Tigger tails from Hundred Acre Wood will still be able to do so in the treats side of Pooh Corner noted Disneyland officials.

‘Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’ will be located in what was formerly known as Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland Resort.

The next chapter in Tiana’s storyline has her continuing to “grow her business with Tiana’s Foods – an employee-owned cooperative,” according to Walt Disney Imagineering. “Combining her talents with those of the local community, Tiana has transformed an aging salt mine and built a beloved brand.”
