“You arrogant SOB” - Michael Steele goes nuts on Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on The Weekend show
The debate over Social Security is a heated one, but Steele’s impassioned response is unlikely to change any plans of the Trump administration.

Michael Steele wasn’t about to let this one slide. The MSNBC analyst erupted in frustration on Sunday, calling out Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick for remarks that many saw as detached and dismissive of everyday Americans struggling with Social Security delays.
It all started when Lutnick, appearing on the All In podcast, downplayed concerns about late Social Security payments. He suggested that people who complain the loudest about missing checks are often fraudsters. He cited his 94-year-old mother-in-law as an example, claiming she wouldn’t make a fuss if her check didn’t arrive on time.
That’s not what said. He was speaking metaphorically about finding fraudsters in the system. https://t.co/Ff0XzhmHSf

“She wouldn’t call and complain,” Lutnick said. “She just wouldn’t. She’d think something got messed up, and she’ll get it next month.” He then added, “A fraudster always makes the loudest noise, screaming, yelling, and complaining.”
Steele’s fiery response to Lutnick
The remarks struck a nerve, and Steele wasted no time firing back during his appearance on The Weekend. “You arrogant SOB!” he roared. “You insensitive lug! How dare you?! How dare you?!” You can feel his tone in the clip below.

But for Steele, this was about more than just one insensitive comment – it was about a broader disconnect between the ultra-wealthy and those who rely on Social Security to survive.
“Your mama’s not going to be worrying about rent because if you’re any kind of a decent son, you’re covering that bill,” Steele shot back. “Most people don’t have that luxury.”
He turned his anger into a direct appeal to voters, urging them to reject politicians who don’t take Social Security seriously.
“If they align with that thinking, they do not deserve to be in public office, period!” Steele declared. “Take control of this situation, and unelect these people who think like that.”
Supporters of Lutnick point to the fact that he did say those who deserve payments should get them in a country as rich as America. But given some of the moves being made by this new Trump administration, there is a growing feeling that inequality across the nation is only going one way. And his mother-in-law will be well looked after in this case.
