And George R. R. Martin?

Elden Ring creator says he doesn't want to play the game

Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software president and Elden Ring designer, reveals that it’s his ideal game, but has no intention of playing it when it releases.

Update:
Elden Ring creator says he doesn't want to play the game

We are all so eager to play Elden Ring that the mere existence of people immune to its charm seems strange to us, but they exist. But it’s even stranger when among these people is Hidetaka Miyazaki himself, president of From Software and creator of the game. In an interview with Edge Magazine, the developer confessed that he has no intentions of playing the game once it's released on February 25th, 2022. Nevertheless, he has a logical explanation:

This is sort of a personal policy,” admits Miyazaki in the interview. “You wouldn't get any of the unknowns that the fresh player is going to experience. Like I said before, it wouldn't feel like playing.” Considering that development dates back to 2017 and was done in parallel to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the thing makes sense. By now Miyazaki knows the Lands Between and The Tarnished journey inside out, there are no secrets or incentives for him within this game. Still, the designer mentioned that “Elden Ring allows a lot of these things to become a reality for me, creating something that's very close to my ideal game.”

George R.R. Martin would play this?

George R.R. Martin doesn't seem to be putting a lot of hours into the game either. The Game of Thrones author has been in charge of creating the context and the story of Elden Ring, but a few days ago he admitted that video games are not his thing. His journey in these goes back to a select few in the strategy field, such as Railroad Tycoon, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and Master of Orion. In a post on his blog, he told why he had agreed to this collaboration and assured that the result "looks amazing".
