Bandai Namco works on remastering a 3D action game for Nintendo
Collaborations between the two companies have been frequent, as they have worked together on projects such as Mario Kart 8 and ARMS.
The shadow of the Metroid Prime trilogy is long, but despite rumors of a possible remake that have been swirling for months, Nintendo has not officially announced anything. The fourth installment of the series began to be developed within Bandai Namco, but the project returned to Retro Studios after the reboot. That has not meant the end of the relationship between the two companies. In fact, a job posting has revealed that the Japanese company is working on a remaster commissioned by Nintendo itself.
ResetEra users have posted on the forums a series of offers in which Bandai Namco is looking to hire numerous staff for their projects. Among them is the aforementioned remaster of a Nintendo action title. In addition, clues point to the fact that they are developing a revamped version of an action game released on Nintendo 3DS, which in principle denies that this particular project is the aforementioned Metroid Prime remake.
Bandai Namco and Nintendo, a long-standing relationship
Bandai Namco is not only in charge of developing its own video games, but also collaborates with external companies to work on additional development. Well-known games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart Tour, ARMS or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have had the help of Bandai Namco during their respective development periods. For example, in the case of Mario Kart 8, they designed "produced approximately half of visual assets for courses, characters and machine parts".
Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch is still in development, but since its reboot was announced nothing more has been heard. Retro Studios, also creators of Donkey Kong Country Returns, have done nothing but expand their studio and have been reinforced with industry veterans.
