Update:
The Batman 2 is official: Robert Pattinson returns

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that The Batman will have a sequel. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as the Dark Knight, while Zoë Kravitz will return as Selina Kyle, the stealthy and lethal Catwoman. Beyond these small details, the production company has not revealed anything about the plot or the dates that are being considered for the shooting and release date.

Toby Emmerich, head of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, took the stage at CinemaCon 2022 with director Matt Reeves, who joined him for the announcement. The filmmaker reported that they plan to unveil more details "in a CinemaCon to come," so we will have to wait patiently until this perpetually dark Gotham opens its streets again.

Colin Farrell's Penguin to get his own series on HBO Max

Within The Batman universe, one of the villains who appeared in the film was Oswald Cobblepot, also known as The Penguin. Colin Farrell spent his time in the makeup room before emerging as this nasty villain, who operates in the underworld and runs the world of the night at will. Warner Bros. recently revealed that the character will have his run beyond the film, as it prepares a series to air on HBO Max.

The actor said in the official statement that he is "excited" to continue exploring the character of Oz "as he ascends the underworld to become The Penguin. "It will be good to get him back on the streets of Gotham for a little madness and a little mayhem." Matt Reeves will serve as producer along with Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassanand and Lauren LeFranc. The latter will serve as the series showrunner.

What would you like to see in this sequel? Tell us in the comments. The Batman premiered on March 4 in theaters but is now available on HBO Max.
