F1 22 is revamped to embrace the new era; 10 things you should know
Codemasters and EA Sports redesign their title to bring it closer to the new Formula 1.
Codemasters and EA Sports have redesigned F1 22 to bring it closer to the changes that Formula 1 presents. Now in this installment that will see the light on June 28 in the digital edition "Champions Edition" on Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC, to later arrive in its standard edition on July 1, seeks to push the game to the limit to bring it as close as possible to reality.
Main changes
Under the slogan "F1 22 is Formula 1 for everyone" this game will seek to be more accessible to allow new players to enter the world of F1, including new cars, circuits and rules. Regarding the latter, the title will include the changes made within the sport, which will be reflected in the regulations, as well as in the changes that the cars will undergo. In addition, we will be able to access 3 tracks for speed races:
Other modifications will come in the aerodynamics, suspension, tires and physics of the game, all this in order to bring the experience of racing cars even closer. For this, Codemasters had contact with F1 itself, as well as with the different teams in order to sharpen the gameplay mechanics.
In addition to the above, F1 22 will see new commentators and former athletes narrating the events, such as British TV presenter Natalie Pinkman, Channel 4's Alex Jacques, Canadian driver and former F1 champion in 1997, Jacques Villenueuve, as well as German presenter Sascha Roos.
As for the visual presentation, modifications were also made, making them closer to those we see on television broadcasts.
Adrenaline-filled experience
In an effort to polish the realism, the developers even used Formula 1 headphones in order to have the same audio experience in the voice of the race engineer. The formation lap, the safety car (as on TV) and the guided grid alignment have also been integrated, not to mention that pit stops now take place at the same speed as in real life, even clocking the times.
My Team and career mode
Now the game will allow you to enter 3 different modes: rookie, medium and title contender. It will also have more events, questions and issues related to the races, escalation of problems in case of approaching them in a non-optimal way, rivals system, season objectives and the ability to customize the color of our car.
Welcome to Miami
As we showed in our video where we raced on the new track, this circuit is added to the game with all the details, including the Hard Rock Stadium complex. The Abu Dhabi, Australia and Spain tracks will have updates.
How does the gameplay feel?
Definitely one of the most striking things is the integration of lines through augmented reality to know the key points of the curves. Another addition is the adaptive artificial intelligence that is somewhat friendlier for less experienced players, but still retains the difficulty for the most experienced.
Specifications of the PC on which we ran the demo:
Roaring engines
At least in the PC version we feel greater realism in the sounds when modifying the audio section and put it to the max within the options menu, this even adapts to surround audio systems, headphones etc..
F1 in Virtual Reality
The surprise of this edition is that, at least on the PC version, it can be played with VR headsets. The interesting thing about this feature is that you will be able to play online with your friends, regardless of whether they use a VR headset or not.
Formula 1 Metaverse
F1 Life arrives in a sort of hub where you can interact with your friends with their respective avatars, where you can have your trophies, show your unlocked cars, have furniture and even your own clothes.
Supercars
One more addition in F1 22 is that there will be Hot lap events in career mode or My team to get cars. There will be on-track modes, experiences and challenges such as autocross, drift, average times and duels. They will also integrate on-track Time Attack experiences, check point challenges, chases and you will have the opportunity to race as an extra with Mercedes and Aston Martin safety cars.
Champions edition content
For all those who pre-order their copy before May 16 will be able to get a Miami-themed DLC in addition to the 3 days of early access, the free upgrade from legacy to next-gen consoles, new My Team icons, the F1 Life starter pack, 18,000 pitcoins and the F1 22 New Era pack.
