Resident Evil 4 Remake announced, Resident Evil Village will jump to VR

Resident Evil had some big announcements during the June 2022 State of Play, with a highly anticipated remake and the jump of one of its recent games to VR.

Update:
Resident Evil 4 Remake announced, Resident Evil Village will jump to VR

The State of Play was filled with multiple announcements this afternoon, but for Resident Evil fans there are two that stand out by far. Resident Evil 4 Remake is a reality, as is Resident Evil Village for Virtual Reality, both for PS5 and intended to take advantage of the PS VR2.

Back (again) to Spain

Resident Evil 4 Remake will bring back the story we played for the first time in 2005, becoming one of the titles that revolutionized gaming at the time. The survival horror game will be arriving on March 24, 2023 for PlayStation 5, and its development aims to "achieve state-of-the-art quality".

Making a remake of more than 15 years of existence is no easy task, as Capcom seeks "preserving the essence of the original", while "reimagining the storyline". According to the publication on the PlayStation Blog, the development is "modernizing the graphics and updating the controls to a modern standard". Also, the game has content in development designed for virtual reality, with PS VR2 in mind. Here is the first trailer.

The Dimitrescu Castle with a different perspective

With barely 1 year of existence, Resident Evil Village will make the jump to VR. This game will be compatible with the PS VR2 and will put us back in the shoes of Ethan Winters in his mission to find Mia. However, many will surely expect to be able to look up to see the imposing Lady Dimitrescu.

According to information on the PlayStation Blog, this version will take advantage of the graphics that the PS VR2 will display such as "4K HDR display, PlayStation VR2's eye tracking, PS5's 3D Audio and more." It will also take advantage of the PlayStation VR2's Sense controls, "to represent each hand in-world."

For now, this version of Resident Evil Village does not have a release date.
