Street Fighter 6 offers revamped controls as an option, but "it's not an Easy Mode"
Takayuki Nakayama, Street Fighter 6's director assures that the new control system is optional and can be used even in competitive environments.
Capcom continues to work on Street Fighter 6, the new installment of its popular fighting saga. The title will implement a modernized control system, a set of options that will be completely optional. Of course, some players have expressed concern that this system will actually be a simplification that will affect the game's balance. However, director Takayuki Nakayama tried to reassure them about this issue in an interview with GameInformer.
According to the Japanese developer, the team has made sure that these modern controls are not "an easy mode" that will negatively affect gameplay. In fact, Nakayama has assured that this new system can be viable even for professional players in Street Fighter 6 competitions.
"If someone wants to play Modern Control Type in a competitive setting, like a tournament, they should. It’s simply a different avenue for players who want it."
Street Fighter 6 was announced earlier this year after a long countdown with no clues as to what it would be. The latest installment of the legendary fighting franchise will be released in 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC. The title will implement cross-play between all platforms and netcode rollback.
The other games Capcom has in the pipeline
Capcom's portfolio of releases for the coming months is extensive. The Japanese developer will publish Shadows of Rose, Resident Evil Village's first story DLC. The expansion will be available from October 28 and will come with changes to the main game, such as the possibility of enjoying the entire adventure in third person. On the other hand, Resident Evil 4 Remake is scheduled for March 24, 2023.
There had been a lot of talk about Dragon's Dogma 2, the second installment of a saga that has finally been officially confirmed.
