Xbox Games With Gold will no longer include Xbox 360 games starting in October
An official communication sent to some users of the platform confirms that in the following months they will only offer Xbox One games.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold subscribers can access a number of free titles on a monthly basis. As part of the membership, Games With Gold includes games from all previous generations of the platform. However, the Redmond-based company has sent a message informing users that as of October 1 they will no longer offer Xbox 360 video games. According to the statement, "we have reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog.”
"Beginning October 1, 2022, the monthly games provided to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold members via Games with Gold will no longer include Xbox 360 titles," they state in the release. "We have reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog." Still, they add, they will continue to provide "exciting Xbox One titles and exclusive savings each month."
All of this will not affect any Xbox 360 games you downloaded before October 2022. "Any Xbox 360 titles that you redeem via Games with Gold before that time are yours to keep on your Xbox account," regardless of whether or not you continue to be a subscriber.
A History of Games with Gold
The Games with Gold program was first announced at E3 2013, offering free Xbox 360 titles to subscribers and extending its catalog to the Xbox One the following year. Since 2014, the list of games has always consisted of two Xbox One titles and two Xbox 360 titles. However, in some months, one of the Xbox 360 games has been replaced by one of the original Xbox games.
For now, there is no information on how the distribution of games will be now, if we will see an increase in Xbox One titles to the program or just stay at 2 titles per month.
In the meantime, do not miss the games that are available during July 2022 in Games with Gold.
