The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is delayed "a few months"
Daedalic Entertainment decides to delay the game "to deliver the best possible experience", not being able to make it to the series premiere on Prime Video.
Daedalic's plans have fallen apart, because if they had planned to launch The Lord of the Rings: Gollum just to almost coincide with the premiere of The Rings of Power, the series that will premiere on Prime Video, there have been last minute changes. The German studio has been forced to delay the game, although they have not specified how much extra time they will spend on its development, just "a few months".
"First of all, we would like to thank all of you for your patience and support so far”, they said in an official statement on Twitter. “Over the last years, our team has been working hard to bring you a remarkable story in a breathtaking world, filled with magic and wonder. We are dedicated to meeting our community’s expectations and uncovering the untold story of Gollum in a way that honors the vision of J.R.R. Tolkien.”
Gollum won't make it in time for the series
"That being said, in order to deliver the best possible experience, we have decided to push the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum by a few months,” the statement continues. “We will update you with an exact timing in the near future”.
“We are grateful for our passionate community and we cannot wait to share this unique adventure with you soon!” they conclude. A shame since the game's release was scheduled just a day before the premiere of The Rings of Power. In fact, not so long ago - just this month, in fact - we were able to see the first gameplay of the game, where we could glimpse a gameplay focused mainly on stealth.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC, and later also for Nintendo Switch, in a port that has been confirmed not to be cloud version.
