What happened to Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp?

The remake of the two Game Boy Advance strategy classics was scheduled for release on April 8, 2022, but the war in Ukraine delayed Nintendo's plans.

Update:
What happened to Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp?

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was one of the titles chosen to be released in early 2022. Nintendo announced that the remake of the first two Game Boy Advance games would be released on Nintendo Switch on April 8 this year. However, Russia invaded Ukraine and all these plans went down the drain, delaying it indefinitely. Since then, we have had no news about it. Has it been canceled? This is precisely what the Axios Gaming journalist asked the Japanese company. The answer? It's still in progress.

"The release has been delayed. We will announce the new date once it has been determined," a Nintendo representative replied. Meanwhile, Russia's offensive on Ukrainian territory continues, although the recovery of territory by Ukrainian forces has begun to generate the first cracks in the government headed by Vladimir Putin. The conclusion of the war seems uncertain, although Russia has not yet formally declared war (it uses the term "Special Operation in Ukraine").

What did Nintendo say in the official statement?

In the original announcement on social media, Nintendo explained the following, "In light of recent world events, we have made the decision to delay Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, which was originally scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch on April 8th," they posted on their official social media. "Please stay tuned for updates on a new release date."

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp did not appear in the September 13 Nintendo Direct, which was mostly dedicated to games coming in the next few months. All of this suggests that the title will continue to sit in the cooler for longer. Nintendo Switch users, in any case, have a more than interesting portfolio of new releases on the horizon, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
