Update:
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet confirm Greavard, a new ghost-type pooch that’ll steal your heart

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have shared a new Pokémon from the Paldea region. Greavard makes his way into the Pokédex list that will arrive when the games release on November 18 exclusively on Nintendo Switch. We’ll tell you everything we know about this cute new Pokémon.

This is Greavard, a newly found species from Paldea

Greavard’s appearance leaves no doubt about what kind of Pokémon we’re dealing with here. The Ghost Dog Pokémon thrives under the moonlight with a telling lit candle on the top of its head, which immediately reminds us of Litwick. The Pokémon Company has said that this is “one of the friendliest Pokémon in the Paldea region.” “Greavard is so affectionate that paying it any attention will make it so happy that it’ll follow you wherever you go.

However, trainers will have to be careful when facing them in an encounter, as the developers also mentioned that Greavard “will slowly and inadvertently absorb the life-force of those around it”. Its Ghost-type turns this spooky pooch into a really interesting addition to the other Pokémon of the same type. In combat, the species shines because of its powerful jaws, capable of shattering bones.

This is all of the information we have so far:

  • Category: Ghost Dog Pokémon
  • Type: Ghost
  • Height: 2’ (0.6 m)
  • Weight: 77.2 lb (25.0 kg)
  • Ability: Pickup

You’ll be able to find this Pokémon in your journeys around Paldea in a different manner than usual. Its tranquil nature makes them rest for long periods of time in the same spot… and underground. The only thing you’re able to see is the candle on its head, one of the telltale signs of its presence. And when you get close, it’ll jump out with a terrifying screech..
