CoD: Modern Warfare 2 tips to deal with campers in the multiplayer
Players hiding in the maps and ruining a killstreak by staying in a hard to get spot is one of the most hated (yet effective) tactics in the history of shooters, so here’s some ways to deal with them.
We've all been there: you’re doing great in a multiplayer match, victory is close and you’re soaring through kills. Everything is going according to plan… until a shot from somewhere unexpected cuts your flow short. A camper just ended your streak, by hiding in an obscure spot and waiting for someone to pop up in front of them. While many think of it as an unfair strategy, it’s so effective that it has become almost a plague on every FPS there is.
In the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 you’re very likely to run into a few campers, but thankfully the devs have done a great job of giving us several tools that’ll help us level the playing field while customizing our builds. Want to ruin a camper’s strat? We’ll tell you how to do this without putting yourself in the line of fire.
How to deal with campers in CoD: Modern Warfare 2
- Drill charges, their worst nightmare: not only are these little devices extremely fun to use, it’s also quite useful in maps with a lot of inside close-quarters areas. Those are some of the favorite spots for campers, after all. Unlike your typical frag grenades, the drill charge sticks to whatever surface you throw it them at (doors, walls, ceilings, other players) and drills straight through, exploding on the other side.
- Become almost invisible with a Counter-UAV: if you can’t deal with a camper before they get you, try launching one of these UAVs. Their ability to scramble enemy radar will give them a hard time when trying to figure out your position and it may force them to scout away from their hiding place.
- Find them out with a Heartbeat Sensor: another useful (and fun) option is to turn the tables on the camper with this tool. The device will allow you to pinpoint an enemy’s location on your radar, so you know where they are before they can even see you This way you get the advantage, and are able to sneak up on them and end their streak.
- Try your luck with a Snapshot grenade: in case you don’t have the heartbeat sensor and you can’t figure out where the fire is coming from, you can always use one of your tactical grenade choices. This grenade type gives you a quick momentary ping of where enemies are inside of the grenade’s radius, painting their silhouettes orange for you and your allies through walls and letting you know exactly where they’re coming from.
