Update:
Wolfenstein’s developers are ‘a perfect fit’ for the Indiana Jones game, according to Todd Howard

One of the (possibly) exclusive Xbox games coming in the next few years that isn't being given that much attention is Indiana Jones, which is being developed by MachineGames. The creators behind the last few Wolfenstein entries are behind the wheel on the development of the mythical adventurer/professor’s new game coming to consoles and PC. After a couple of failed attempts and very old adventure games from the 90s (as well as some, not so great action titles), it’ll be fun to see what we get this time.

So how is the studio better known for heavy FPS's doing with what we expect to be a third person action-adventure? According to Todd Howard, producer of the title, incredibly well. He took the time to state that MachineGames “is a perfect fit” for the Indiana Jones project.

Howard, in love with the game

This new title starring the iconic adventurer portrayed in the movies by Harrison Ford since its creation back in the 80s was announced back in the beginning of 2021. We haven’t had much news about it since then, but we do know that even when the fifth film is being produced at the same time, the plot of the game is not related to it at all. We don’t even know if Ford will take part in the game as the voice of the protagonist, which if it happened would be amazing news to fans.

Speaking of fans, Howard said that the game is “a love letter” to them, and that MachineGames is doing an “incredible job” with it. He also revealed that he’d been trying to get the license to make this game with Bethesda since 2009. While he was unsuccessful then, it seems Disney made things easier this time around, since they’ve been getting more adventurous with their IP.

About the genre of the game, he refused to tag it as a simple “action-adventure” title. Instead, he said the game would be “a mash-up” of different things that the studio has been wanting to make for a few years.

As of now, it seems like the game might be an exclusive for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. There has been no news about it coming to PlayStation, nor a release date.
